K-Tip Hair Extensions NYC
Keratin bond · fusion · Upper East Side
Individual keratin-bonded strands, applied one at a time. Every new client starts with a free consultation.
What are K-tip extensions?
K-tip extensions are small strands of human hair attached with a keratin bond melted around your own hair. Each bond moves independently, which is what makes them hold well in thicker textures. At our Upper East Side studio K-tips are $375 per bundle (25 strands), hair and application included, with the number of bundles confirmed at your free consultation.
K-tip — also called keratin bond or fusion — attaches individual strands of hair to your own using a small keratin tip softened with heat. Each bond is roughly the size of a grain of rice and moves independently, which is what gives the method its natural fall.
Because the hair is applied strand by strand rather than in wefts, K-tip follows your own hair’s movement more closely than any flat method. It is the most labour-intensive install we do and the most versatile once it is in.
Who are K-tip extensions best for?
- Clients who wear their hair up, in ponytails, or parted differently day to day — there is no weft line to hide
- Thicker or coarser hair that can carry individual bonds well
- Anyone wanting length and density rather than length alone
- Curly and wavy textures, where individual strands blend better than flat wefts
K-tip or tape-in — which is better?
The honest short version: tape-ins are faster, cheaper and flatter; K-tips are slower, dearer and more flexible.
If you mostly wear your hair down and want length without much fuss, tape-ins usually do the job. If you wear your hair up, want to change your parting, or have hair dense enough that a flat weft would sit proud of the scalp, K-tip is the better method. We would rather place you correctly than sell you the more expensive one.
How much do K-tip extensions cost in NYC?
K-tip is quoted per bundle, because the number of bundles depends on your hair density and the length and fullness you are after. That is not a way of avoiding the question — it is that a small head wanting subtle length and a thick head wanting significant volume are genuinely different jobs.
Your free consultation gives you the exact figure in writing before anything is ordered. K-tip extensions are $375 per bundle (25 strands), hair and application included, at our Upper East Side studio. How many bundles your hair needs is the part that varies, and it is confirmed in writing at your free consultation before any hair is ordered. For comparison, our tape-in pricing is $730 for 16–18 inches and $950 for 22–26 inches for application (hair charged separately), quoted as a full install rather than per bundle.
How often do K-tip extensions need maintenance?
K-tip bonds grow down with your own hair and are removed and re-applied at the root periodically. Removal is done with a solution that breaks the keratin without cutting your own hair. Between appointments they are washed and styled normally, with care taken around the bonds themselves — we go through this with you at the fitting.
What hair do you use?
Remy human hair, colour-matched in person against your own hair in daylight. Not from a swatch chart, and not from a photo.
